Welcome Wagon is a community-based service which welcomes new arrivals and contacts new parents, brides-to-be, new businesspeople, and retirees with information on local businesses and services. The Welcome Wagon organization has over 1,000 Representatives across Canada. Since 1930, it has served over 500 communities.
Protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of all information has always been fundamental to the way we have done business in Canada since 1930.
We strive to provide you with the best and most informative community service. To us, that includes treating you and the information you provide with respect.
Welcome Wagon Representatives identify their potential personal visits through internal and personal referrals, from community and business referrals, moving services, our website, request calls from the people themselves, and through advertising our services.
We collect only information that you provide, and we tell you how we use it. We limit the information according to the lifestyle change that makes you eligible to receive our specialized services (i.e. a welcome to the community, programs for brides-to-be, new and expectant parents, and new business people and executives) and/or for periodic follow-up contact or gifts, services, sampling, coupon, or information mailings.
Any information that Welcome Wagon collects is kept for a maximum period of two years (for audit purposes), after which time your information will be erased or destroyed.
Welcome Wagon collects your information so that it can provide you with its specialized services on the personal visits such as greetings, gifts, information about the community, and periodic mailings.
With your consent, Welcome Wagon provides your basic information to our reputable business associates and partners who are our sponsors and who participate under a confidentiality agreement and who sponsor us in the 'visit', making our community service possible. The disclosure of the information verifies the success of our programs and accounts for the gifts we distribute on the sponsors' behalf.
Welcome Wagon has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control. The information is protected by secured, monitored premises and security procedures. This is regularly reviewed to ensure compliance.
Access to our customer data is limited to the business associates and partners (sponsors) who are bound by a confidentiality clause in their contracts which prevents use or disclosure of that information for any purpose other than for that business to provide services to you. All Welcome Wagon Representatives and Head Office employees are also bound by a confidentiality agreement which prevents the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information for the purposes other than stated above. In addition, our organization has appointed a compliance officer who will ensure that our practices and procedures are in accordance with this policy and any applicable legislation.
Upon request, we will give you full access to any information we retain about you. And, while we strive to make sure the information we collect is as accurate as possible, we will also happily amend any information if it is incorrect.
We will investigate and respond to your concerns about any aspect of our handling of your information. As well, you have the choice of opting out at any time. All you need to do is notify us.
